There is some new information being loaded onto the website right now. It should be "good to go" by the time you read this. I was checking with the County to try to get a copy of the grant proposal for the connector bridge for the Huckleberry Trail that is to provide a pedestrian crossing over 114 when I stumbled across some other information. Building permits. This discovery went along with some data I am working on from the
Weldon Cooper Center for 2006 and 2007 that gives information on building permits and the costs of those buildings. Data is available for Counties, Cities, and Towns so that the viewer can do some really kewl comparison charts. That information will be coming in a future blog (there is some really interesting stuff in those files).
In the meantime, I got a copy of the
Town's Building Permit Summary in excel form and converted it to pdf files to put on the website. The Town's information only has the number of different types of structures built, but if I see any interesting trends (okay, I saw some in the first 5 minutes), I can request the detailed building permit report that should include the 'cost' as well as the location. Then, using the County's IGIS system, I can pull find out the sales price of the building. The internet is a wonderful thing!!! Stay tuned for more information as I stumble across things while my 'fingers do the walking'. Guess that phrase has to be change with webpages and blogs available to virtually anyone that wants to use them. Now you can say "let your fingers do the walking and the talking"!
