This for all of you who think I don't read all of those materials I get from the Town, like the Town Code:
Who is the person who polices the garbage for compliance with the Town Code concerning human or animal excreta?
Chapter 24 Section 24-54. Placing Human or animal excreta in container set out for removal."It shall be unlawful for any person to place in any container set out for removal by the Town garbage truck any human excreta or manure from animals."Now, what happens if the garbage police catch that dirty
Pamper????
Chapter 24 Section 24-58. General Penalty."Except as otherwise provided in this article, a violation of any provisions of this articleshall constitute a class 1 misdemeanor."Well...it's not a job I'd want that for sure.
A job that is a bit more challenging is trying to find any such reference in the current
state codes. The 1972 codes used by the Town is not still hanging around and finding anything like this law in the current state codes available online is a true exercise in futility.
I searched under excreta, excrement, feces, organic fertilizer, poo-poo, number 2, boom-boom, and I even used that common 4 letter word. Alas, despite my diligent efforts, I couldn't find this in the state code.
So....just what does it mean to all those folks dropping the Pampers in their garbage cans? Are they going to jail? Are they going to be fined?
This is just one example of MANY that I have found where the Town Code does not seem to match up with the State Code (It is the most humorous one...the rest are much more serious). If you're one of those people using disposable diapers, I hope you have a good attorney....in case they ever find someone to go through your garbage to that degree. Oh...and what do you do with that 'non-flushable kitty litter' if you live in an apartment complex or in townhomes/condos with very, very small yards? Is it illegal to flush the non-flushable kitty litter because it can damage the system. If your yard is too small for a shovel, do you use a teaspoon to dig the hole? Or, do you let your pet wander around freely and exposed to all those hazards and infectious diseases out there?
What a dilemma. When I walk my dog now, and pick up any poop so it is not left on sidewalk ...well, street since I don't have a sidewalk....and I don't want to let them go in a neighbor's yard...I think that really is illegal. Oh...wait, I have a dehydrator...I can dry it, pulverize it and sell it as little microbags of puppy-poo fertilizer.....Yes...there's that good old American spirit of "small business" is action. What a Country...What a Town....Progressive...definitely progressive.
