Talk about someone stepping up to the plate and launching one over that center field fence? Councilman Stipes has certainly done just that by taking a strong position for getting the citizens he works for the information they need. Check out his blog as soon as you can! This is truly great information and clearly shows Mr. Stipes has the leadership qualities that are needed in Christiansburg. It is not often that elected officials will present themselves in such an open public manner. I applaud Mr. Stipes display of political courage in doing this.

p.s.
Mr. Anonymous...no I have never played baseball in any form except recreational. I did, however, play softball for 15 years and went to multiple state and regional tournaments in both slow and fast pitch. I also umpired softball for recreation leagues and high school teams.

For those of you who don't know Mr. Anonymous, he is the one that consistently sends me such loving messages to point out that because I do not have a degree in engineering, I should not ask questions about the Aquatic Center and how water pressure in the area will be affected. Now let me see. I take a shower and someone flushes the toilet...I screech when cold water hits....I think that qualifies as a function of water pressure.

Mr. Anonymous has also noted that I should not talk about Law Enforcement issues since I do not have a degree in Law Enforcement. Okay....so sitting somewhere watching people dodging traffic trying to get across a busy intersection does not qualify me to wear a badge but I think it counts towards a bit of commonsense evaluation of problems (potential or current).

Mr. Anonymous has also indicated that since I am not on the Town Council, I have no business making suggestions or comments to the Town Council, or questioning any thing they do. Now really, Mr. Anonymous, these people work for me and every other citizen. Do you not feel that as 'employeers' we have a right to watch, monitor, evaluation, and question?

I guess from Mr. Anonymous's perspective the democratic form of government must be something akin to total chaos. Mr. Anonymous would have all voices silenced. In Mr. Anonymous's world, one would never be allowed to challenge a credit card charge where he/she thinks an error has been made unless he/she happens to be an accountant. One would never be able to ask a doctor a question or seek a second opinion unless one was a physician him/her self. One would never have had the Boston Tea Party, Rights for Veterans, access for physically challenged, the right to vote, and most certainly would never have had the right of free speech.

Well Mr. Anonymous, whatever alternative reality you live in, the reality here is that we the people do have rights. Most citizens are not engineers or law enforcement officers or attorneys. Many of us are simple shop owners, clerks, janitors, garbage collectors, or fill niches in a wide variety of professional roles that you feel would not qualify us to ask questions and speak out. But, guess what....we are the voting public, we are the citizens these government officials  have been elected/appointed to serve. We have every right to ask questions and to DEMAND answers. We have the right to make sure we fully understand issues. And, we will do so.

Mr. Anonymous, if all your other assertions hold true then only someone who blogs should be able to comment on a blogger. Care to share your blog site address with us so we can check it out?
