The town would do nothing. I've heard Christiansburg code is grossly out of date so another legislative action is simply something else that will be ignored. Unless they don't like you. I just cannot understand what everyone is doing that managers are so overwhelmed the basics of governing are not taken care of.

Why go after making developers pay this and pass the costs on to buyers when officials can just keep increasing all other taxes and fees? Ring around the rosie, which one will it be this year? Taxes happen and whether it is tucked into a utility bill for the locality or state we keep paying and paying and paying. What you're talking about is big ticket stuff and should be paid by the consumer, the developers and home buyers. Then too you see it is a huge huge loss when officials don't bother to go after every grant source possible. Heck, that's better than maybe-sorta "tourism" dollars and if you could get both, citizens could sigh a sigh of some relief from this onslaught.
A sigh yes...and some hope for the future. Those grants could help develop jobs in this area. Something besides being a cashier or making burgers for those youth who love this Town and want to be able to live here, make a decent living, and raise their families here! One thing I have noticed...don't look for things to happen that will help pull people in the community together. Something as simple as doing a quarterly honors day on a Saturday, when kids don't have school the next morning. Instead of all those parades through Town Council. Do it in a place and at a time where their school friends and families can get to it easily. Make it a big todo with some local music, maybe a school band or choral group, let volunteer groups such as rescue and fire use it as a time to make some money through sales of food or drinks...make it a community celebration instead of being forced to parade in front of town council in chambers. Make it fun and enjoyable AND memorable!
