I've been busy working on a few little special projects for the
myvaresources.com/blogs/depotdazed site. It looks a bit different
because there are now four links across the top: Home, Blogs, VA Bill
Watch, and Christianburg, VA Issues.
Each of these will take you to different pages with the last 3 being
static pages that are not places where you can leave comments. They are
for information only. The more I use all of this computer stuff, the
more amazed I am at what a person can do:)
Home:
takes you to the page where the blog itself. This is the old familiar
page and is the one that is set to open up first when you go to the
site.
Blogs: is a list of blogs that I have found useful in doing my own research.
VA Bill Watch:
is a page that walks you through the process of using the Richmond
Sunlight's great webpage for tracking bills going through the Virginia
House and Senate. (It is only the tip of the iceberg of all the great
resources available at this sit.)
Christiansburg, VA Issues:
I have identified a few areas that seem to be of particular interest to
reader. Then, I went through the Town Counil and Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes to see exactly what was discussed on these isses at
Public Meetings. I did a "cut and paste" of these discussion into
static pages where you readers can look at the comments that have been
made by citizens and officials concerning these issues. They are fairly
large, but are much smaller than the full meeting minute files which
can be found at myvaresources.com. (I am also redesigning some of those
pages to make searching the full text easier for readers.) I have
identified 6 major issues thus far (I am willing to add more if you
have other ideas:). Some of these are completed using the Minutes
obtained from FOIA requests and from the Town's website, others are
still in process. Here is the list of issues you will find in the drop
down tabs under Charistiansbur, VA Issues (also found on the right hand
column under Hot Topics:
From the Town Council and Planning Commission Meeting Minutes 2001-2009:
- Aquatic Center (In progress)
- Drainage/Stormwater (In progress)
- Growth (Complete)
- Historic Districts (In progress)
- Sidewalks (Complete)
- Traffic (Long enough to require 2 pages)
- Traffic (2001-2005) (Complete)
- Traffic (2006-2009) (Complete)
With the May elections moving closer, you may want to look at what
comments have been made by some of those running for office. You may
also wish to do some work of your own to see how those words manifest
into solution and actions.
Happy reading:) Now, back to work for me.
